An assignment for a class on the Enlightenment. “An Examination of the Biblical Principles Regarding Women; How the Arrival of Rational Thought Enabled the Beginning of the Women’s Rights Movement” The Abstract: In the examination of historic documents concerning women’s rights divine authority is referred as the reason for oppression of women’s rights. We examine how once the bible was proved to contain errors a new definition of women in society was sought using the methods of the enlightenment. This is written as an observation of history as the introduction of reason enabled women to challenge past views.
